Illustrator Pixelated

Adobe Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator is a vector graphics editor software. It was designed by Adobe Inc. and is a great tool that can be used to design logos, business cards, blog posts, website graphics, social media graphics, posters, etc. Designers also use it to design everything from single design elements to full compositions. Illustrator was launched in 1987. Illustrator has been continuously updated and now is a part of the Adobe Creative Cloud. Adobe Illustrator is used for creating very high-quality artwork, it is used by a lot of people throughout the world who are into graphic designing, Visual arts, Web designing, etc. Now let’s go into the heart of the problem with Illustrator Pixelated.

Common Problems With Illustrator and What is Illustrator Pixelated?

Now that we understand what Illustrator is, let us now see the issues that users face with Adobe Illustrator. Some common problems with Illustrator might include:

  1.  Illustrator not being able to export certain objects of an image, for these issues you might have to check your setting or file type of the image, if it does not resolve the issue then, just check if the colors of the object are not set to overprint.
  1. Selection edges, if you can not see your selection edges then you might have turned them off without realizing,  just click on view on the toolbar and click on show edges, or you can use the shortcut “Ctrl + H” to turn them back on.
  1. Not being able to transform selection, Sometimes while working on Illustrator we tend to press the wrong button and our tools change shape or disappear, It is the same with the selection box. If you turned it off by mistake, just press “Ctrl + Shift + B”. You can also go to the “View” option on the toolbar and click on “Shown Bounding Box”.
  1. Conversion Issue, If you are having an issue with converting your images, then most likely your issue is that you have a lot of vector-based images on some of your pages, and you will have to remove some of them.
  1. Issues with Layout, if you are facing any issues with the layout of text or images or anything else. To resolve this, check if the layers are unsupported or replace your vector graphic with bitmaps.

Oh, Wait!! We are sorry, we forgot to cover Illustrator Pixelated in this section, I swear we never do this, why don’t you take a gander at the next subheading.

What is Illustrator Pixelated?

Illustrator Pixelated refers to images being pixelated on Illustrator. It is one of the most common issues when it comes to exporting images. You might have faced this before, You were just exporting an image, and you see that the image suddenly gets pixelated i.e,  the image loses its clarity. This can be because of one of these two reasons:

Illustrator Pixelated
  1. The size of the images is larger than that of the art board you are currently working on, and because the dimensions of the image and board do not match, the images gets compressed and become pixelated.
  1. The export settings on Illustrator maybe be changing the format of the image and compressing it because of which it gets pixelated. Illustrator being a vector-based software will obviously be more compatible with vector graphics. If you export a raster image or any other pixel-based image format, it will lose quality when you export it to Illustrator.

How to Export an Image Without Having Illustrator Pixelated

The main goal to export and create artwork on Illustrator is to do it without losing clarity of the image. Let’s see the steps for how we can do this:

  • Step 1: The first thing you will have to do is to check the dimension of the image you are exporting and the dimensions of the art board. Resize the art board accordingly.
  • Step 2:   After checking for the dimensions and exporting the image, check if any layers are locked. If they are, then unlock them and select the image using the selection tool and scale your image by pressing “Alt + Shift” and dragging it from a corner with your cursor, so it is scaled proportionally.
  • Step 3: Now, click on “File” and go to “Export” and select “Export for screens” option.
  • Step 4: Select the desired format and scale of your image and click “Export art board”.

How to use Adobe Illustrator?

We have to understand how Adobe Illustrator works so that we do get Illustrator pixelated. Illustrator can be used in many ways. It can be used to edit and create images, rasterize images, can help in creating digital images, and also images that can be printed. Illustrator can also help in creating logos, graphs, diagrams, charts, cartoons, etc. It is a great tool to create high-quality artwork in a very short period. As Illustrator has a good command over text it can help us in creating posters, postcards, and images with text in it. Illustrator also has a design mock feature that can show us a preview of what the website will look like, this is a great feature for many web designers.

As we mentioned before, Illustrator is now included in Adobe Creative Cloud which is an interactive system on Adobe through which users can share their ideas, effects, etc. with the cloud. This is a great option if people want to share their work with another adobe software from Illustrator. For example. We can export our work, which was initially started on Illustrator, to Photoshop through the Adobe Creative Cloud. Just like this, your projects from Photoshop or some other Adobe software can be exported to Illustrator with creative cloud to create the perfect artwork.

History of Adobe Illustrator

Illustrator’s version 1 came out in 1989 and was made for the Macintosh. It was an alternative to Photoshop. At that time, Adobe was also creating “PostScript” which was a language used by the computers to communicate with office printers. Initially, Adobe Illustrator did have a preview option and users had to use two different windows to see the preview.

History of Adobe Illustrator

In 1989, Adobe released the second version of Illustrator, and this time it was compatible with Microsoft as well. Adobe also made versions for many software programs, but it did not gain much success and had to be discontinued for many of the software programs.

In 1992, Version 4 was released, and this version had a preview mode for windows software. But Macintosh did not have a preview mode till Version 5 was released in 1993.

Version 6 was released in 1996 and was the last Illustrator version to support Macintosh. The versions after this were more compatible with only Windows.

Adobe released Version 7 in 1997 and made the path editing option, which made it similar to that of the Photoshop interface. This version of Illustrator supported plugins as well and stretched the ability of Illustrator because now it could include a third party to add its touch to Illustrator, which could not be done in previous versions.

By 2000, Illustrator was able to save the images in PDF and SVG formats and could also do web publishing. It was also giving a preview of non-vector graphics. It also had an SVG viewing option by got discontinued in 2009 and was started again by 2011.

The Modern Era

From 2003, all Illustrator versions were now called CS, which is an acronym for “Creative Suite”. The creative suite had Insight, which is a graphic design application, and also had Photoshop. Users could also design 3-dimensional artwork with CS.

In 2005 Illustrator CS2 came out and had a custom workspace and a color palette.

CS3 came out in 2007 and had features such as live color, color guide, multiple crop areas.

Illustrator CS4 came out in 2008 and included updated features. Illustrator now had new FreeHand features, and a user could also add and maintain multiple artboards. This would allow users to maintain different versions of an image and could also store them in one document.

In May 2005 Illustrator CS5 was released, and it included a new gradient tool and allowed users to maintain colors on a path. It also came with a “Blob Brush” which allowed users to merge overlapping tools. It also had a new tool called “Bristle Brush” with which users could create more natural-looking strokes. Another feature included in CS5 was the FreeHand perspective grid.

In May 2012, Illustrator CS6 was released. This version came with a new interface and layer panels. It also came with a new color ramp and new RGB codes.

In 2020, Adobe changed Illustrator from CS to CC as Illustrator became a part of “Creative Cloud”. With the creative cloud, users could export their artwork from Illustrator to other Adobe software programs such as Photoshop and vice versa.
